Custom Scanner - TV, Movie, Series ...

Hello,

Project:

To group like movies for example Transformers, Harry Potter, Terminators, into a tree format similar to the series scanner.

So I've done some work and have written a basic scanner, however im running into some issues and would like some expert advise.

File Structure

/Media/
/Terminator/
/term1 2007.m4v
/term2 2009.m4v
/Harry Potter/
/2003 - title.m4v
/2004 - title.m4v
/Simpsons/
/Season 1/
/s01e01 - Bart.m4v
/s01e02 - Lisa.m4v
/Season 2/
/Season 3/

So I can scan the files, I can add the meta data ... but i seem to have some limitations and wondering the best way to get around them.

Limitations:
  • Stacking media only works in the “TV Series” not “Movies”, i beleve this is hard coded into the media agents.
  • Media looks up is based on Agent type so for movies in the series scanner, nothing is found.
  • Sub set (serires) within “TV Shows” show up as “Series” but that does not really look proper for Movie series organized by year the movie would be published or sub title of that movie.

Example Scanner

Sound like the idea I posted a view days ago (Link to that post), I will definitely follow this :)

Any experts out there care to help in providing some insite?

I would love to see this. Or maybe a scanner that can add these movie series to invidividual collections?

Look at the source code of Hama. it's an AniDB metadata agent, and also contain an absolute series scanner which also handles normal series scanner

In series mode, it does add the movies as tv series season 1 episode 1, while adding the correct metadata. it allows to have series in one go

you could create an XML file like the movie collection XML for anime: (which i load for managing series and movies collection)

https://github.com/ScudLee/anime-lists/blob/master/anime-movieset-list.xml

What you want is doable but need to be coded, my code might give you a head start, but this can be done using collections, although it will not remove the movies from the list (do another movie folder with the movie sequels, trilogies and anthologies and use collections maybe?)
