I guess there is probably a way to do this or it already exists in some form, but I am trying to replicate Spotify’s daily mix playlists. I was thinking of creating smart playlists in a couple of different ways, for example, top 5 artist styles, top 5 artists, last 10 artists, top 5 album styles. These sort of things, but I can’t seem to get them to work as I can’t order by popularity, I realise that the artist ones I can make manually, but I’d like them to be smart playlists that will refresh as I listen to music.
Any ideas?
I would use Aural Fixations; depending on what mood you’re in, choose Top Artists or Top Albums, for the last week, say, and then shuffle that.
Unfortunately there’s no temporal component to plays accessible via smart playlists (yet, at least). So you can get most popular tracks, but not most popular tracks in the last X. The Aural Fixations stuff uses other APIs.
