If I have my movie library show “Title” I see about 500 more movies than if I apply the sorting “Date Added” so that all the new stuff is at the top. Why would this be?
Ive been running plex for like 5 years so feel free to get a little technical if needed. I am pretty familiar with it but can’t seem to figure out why this is. TIA!
I cannot be sure but I do know that more often than it should Plex manages to add movies with some of the date files screwed up. (That is the technical term, I believe.) You might want to examine some of the files that are not showing under “date added” sorting and see if the metadata shows a reasonable date.
Would be a lot easier if I knew what files weren’t showing up, but I don’t. I would have to go through a huge library 1by1 checking files under both views until I found the missing titles. Would be a nightmare-ishly long process
Do you use collections? If you sort by Title and have Hide items which are in collections enabled in the library advance menu. It will be lower than by Date Added. Date Added includes the movies in the collections I guess, since a collection doesn’t have a Date Added.
I just tried to disable collections. Which gave me the same amount of movies, when sorting by Title and Date Added.
If you have Show Items and Collections enabled. Sorting by Title will include: Movies without collection, Collections and the Movies in the collections. So this will still give you a different number than by sorting on Date Added. Date Added only include movies.
