Hide Items in Collections - Sorted by Date Added

I have my movie library setup to HIDE items withing collection in the Library display. This feature works fine with the display sorting is set to “Title”. However, it does not work when the sorting is by “Date Added”. Is this on purpose? Is there a way to force this?

That is by design. No way to override it, as far as I know.
