I’ve been appropriating a “Movie” style folder to store general videos I’ve recorded. Out of several dozens of files I’ve put in all but 3 show under the small picture the year, and below that the date of the file. Where does Plex get that date which is actually the file date… and why would the 3 last ones not have it?
From what you describe, it sounds like you’ve created an “Other video”-type library and sorted the library view by “Release Date”.
This will list the items with 3 labels under their poster:
- The title
- The release year
- The release date
By default, this information (#2+3) is taken from embedded metadata.
You can also set the date when editing the item in Plex (
> General > Originally Available).
I guess the last 3 items don’t have that information tagged as embedded metadata and Plex is therefore not picking it up?
