De-interlacing Android Mobile (DVR/Live TV) feature 2021

Now that android devices have become more powerful, how possible would it be to implement deinterlacing for all Android devices? My nvidia shield does it, as does firetv have the option.

Any 1080i content I play on my Note 20 Ultra has combing and plays @ 30 (fps/hz, whatever the proper semantics are)…basically not smooth. However, I can play live tv or plex recorded in Kodi and it looks great.

This would be a most welcome feature as most of the OTA content I receive is still 1080i, not 720p, mpeg-2.ts files. Thank you!

Crickets…? No one else would like this as a feature?

Anyone have ideas for this?

I found a work-around but far from perfect. Using an external player and having it stream to (Kodi, for example), and then Kodi can de-interlace the 1080i mpeg-2.ts stream no problem…

However, this only works with pre-recorded DVR content. Live TV won’t transfer to an external player.
