Hello, I am very glad for the new download fuction, BUT if I share my server with friends and somebody wants to download (with a new download, not sync) then:
He uses a lot of processor resources if he select transcoding (for example he wants to download a whole season with 20-30 episode) and this is not good! My CPU is at full and no resource for streaming for others.
The media will not being deleted from his device when the shared server connection is over! That is not good! With sync function the media deleted after the 'allow sync" is disabled. That would be a right solution for the new downloads too.
I think the best solution is just to disable downloads for your users. I do this for exactly the reason you describe in your first point. The resources to provide that video to them is not worth it to me. They can just watch directly from the server or not at all. The only account on my server that is allowed to download things is my wife but I have personally set up her stuff so as to not have issue if she decides to download something.
