So, I had a HDD fail and lost part of my collection. I am wondering if Plex has a log of what files are removed when the files are removed from the actual scanned location.
Depends on whether you already emptied the trash of your Plex library or not.
(i.e. if you still have the posters in your library with a trash can icon on top, the trash was not emptied.)
In this case you can use Home · WebTools-NG/WebTools-NG Wiki · GitHub to export a list of the items in your library, including their storage locations. Then it is easy to use a spreadsheet app to filter this list for the address of the damaged hard drive.
If the library trash has already been emptied, you need to
- disable the checkboxes “Scan my library automatically”, “Scan my library periodically”, as well as “Empty trash automatically after every scan”
- restore an earlier version of the main database file Restore a Database Backed Up via 'Scheduled Tasks' | Plex Support
