Desired feature removed as a bug?

FIXES:

Newscast row is not displayed in home screen.
News: videos would not play automatically when a new one is selected from Newscast list.
**Ensure video stops when screen is turned off.**

That last line I was very sad to see. I have been waiting for a long time and I think it is a feature request somewhere to allow video to continue playing the audio when the screen has turned off. This ability is the only reason over the years I have ever tried to use an external player to watch videos as I have numerous situations where I would like to just listen to the audio from a video and save my battery by turning the screen off and allowing it to continue playing. If you could please backtrack that fix or make it a user toggle-able option in Settings that would be amazing.

For the brief time it has been available I noticed and enjoyed having it especially when I have been up at 2am with my 8 week old listening to an episode of MAS*H with my phone face down on my lap and the screen off. It was a welcome surprise to find that the video would keep playing when I accidentally fumbled my phone and his bottle and turned the screen off. I was like, well that’s awesome! When did they add that??? :smiley:

If we do this, we need to do it properly. That bug would bring many different issues. But we’ll consider it.

I can certainly understand that, but that being said that was the best bug I’ve ever run in to. :wink: Hopefully I’ll get to see that feature properly implemented some day.
