Desktop Plex library music app (similar to Spotify)

I've started trying to make use of the Plex Web app more to listen to my music collection whilst working in the office away from home.

It's okay, does the job, but feels a bit clunky and basic.

So I was pondering about the possibility to build a dedicated desktop app (OSX, Windows etc) that provided a dedicated front end to our Plex media servers (and our friends shared ones) and access it in a similar interface to maybe Spotify.

I read a number of posts requesting features to be added - some of which could be implemented in the client side desktop app perhaps.

Is anything like this in the works that anybody knows of?

Would it be of interest to Plex users?

I see that this is 6 months old - but I would have interest. :) I landed on this page while googling around to see if there was a dedicated plex music app. :)

Wow, time flies. I've been building a house since I posted that so done nothing about it!

Little interest though, and maybe the mobile apps will get better for audio playing and remove the need for a desktop app?

Yeah, it would be nice to have a desktop app to connect to the Plex server.

Of course, you can run the Plex Home theather, but if you want to listen to music while you do other things with your computer, the full screen experience is frustating.

Maybe publishing the Plex library as an iTunes Server and use iTunes as a client?

Agreed,

There is now PMP but I use plex to listen music at work and it would be great to have a minimal version of PMP that only display artwork and some songs info and not a full screen that displays all other librairies (like tv or movies)
