Would love to have some way to differentiate the sometimes 3-4 album covers that show up for an MP3 from different agent scanning. They look super similar when only a thumbnail, but one could be 200x200 and the other 1000x1000 and I won’t know until I switch to a player that blows the image up. I tried searching different ways to manage this but often it’s either rebuild the whole AppData album/artist section which takes forever, or try some voodoo combo of move the folder, clear bundles, move back, hope it picks up the right covers even when embedded.
Would love the following:
Details on mouseover (file name, agent source, dimensions, size)
Ability to delete individual covers
[Edit] Or even if you could just left-click and expand the image to full-size so you could inspect the image 1:1 that’d be helpful
Problem here is that we don’t know the size of the image without actually downloading it, and we don’t download all image covers immediately at the beginning (only the one that gets selected)
But we are discussing this internally and see if we can find another way (as it is a very good request!)
Interesting, didn’t know that. It’s hard to tell with the limited data that shows, I’m always just best-guessing.
Even downloading first just to see the details would be nice, after selecting one. I’ve had instances where Plex picked the last.fm 200px image over the 600+px embedded image. But with thousands of songs I just have no easy way to see. Being able to clear the downloaded ‘extra’ ones -or- if there was a flag in the update to specifically ensure embedded album covers are chosen first that’d work too. I’m sure there are a bunch of ways to accomplish this.
From scratch that makes sense but say I update the embedded cover (sometimes it was a smaller 250px stock version from EAC import) with a larger one and then refresh/force refresh is that going to retroactively update? Because technically it already had an embedded image in the list. This is essentially what I’ve been tackling. As fun as Plex dancing is.
I’ve had times where I up to 5 different images showed for a single album and the only way I eventually got it settled was to completely rebuild the library since I couldn’t manually parse where the images were stored.
Actually, brainstorming it further… If you had headers in the covers section that would be immensely helpful
I would really like to see this as well. I’m in the process of replacing all album covers with embedded ones. Plex doesn’t reliably pick up the changed artwork.
I suspect at some point I am going to have to re-import the entire music library if Updating an Album in Plex continues to be broken.
