Developers - adding the capacity to include alphabetised sub folder separation in TV libraries

Apologies for any lack in protocol, this is my first ever post even though I’ve been a pass subscriber for ages, I have no idea if I’ve posted correctly in the right place with the right tags… I’m relying on the patience and goodwill of others here to help if I’ve done wrong…

Until recently, my TV database has been displaying fine and populating fine… Initially, I had my shows saved in the approved format as seen below:

*/TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17

After I build up a large collection, I ended up grouping the shows into alphabetical folders:

  • /TV Shows/A/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17

This has worked fine for years but this morning, I went to view my TV show library and found it had changed to multiple entries with no covers or titles etc just repeated blanks as follows:

0-99, 0-99, 0-99, A, A, A, A, A, A, B etc…

I have my movies organised in alphabetical folders also… if I have to dump them all into one directory for my plex library to work that will be an organisation nightmare…

Please can you allow for a directory structure that also includes scanning within alphabetic sub folders as follows for all media libraries?

  • /TV Shows/**A/**ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17

I have moved some files out again and they now display correctly so its not an issue with plex other than the default directory structure allows…

Many thanks for your time and patience,

Adrian

Edit Library, and add additional file path to the shows library, like:

/TV Shows/A
/TV Shows/B
/TV Shows/C
/TV Shows/D

And so on

I’ll give that a go, thanks so much for your prompt advice

Remember to remove /TV Shows afterwards

Yes, I was just thinking that… so I originally mapped shared drives to a windows server as drive letters and then added these to Plex server as drive letters eg d:\ as the root directory to scan for TV shows… I’m now adding in d:\0-99, d:\A, d:\B etc… when thats done, I’ll just remove d:\ on its own from Plex library and that should be in alignment with what you suggest?

Never ever use the root dir, but always at least one directory down

So I suggest creating a show directory at the root, and below that your alphabet
