Device cannot be Removed HELP

Hello,
I have one device I added temporarily to watch something and removed it from my devices page. Then I noticed the device was streaming something a couple days after it was removed from the devices list. I then removed all devices from the device list and went to the support and followed the advanced instructions of resetting my account password and upon resetting it check the “remove all connected devices from this account” box. I did so and all of my devices were removed and I had to put the password in to reconnect my devices. Today I noticed, this devices was streaming AGAIN. It is the only device that doesn’t lose connection.
Please help, there is no other way to get in contact and no further support in the FAQ.
Thanks,
Carson

Have you rebooted this unknown device? Often new settings are not applied until the device is reset. You might also find the device in your router/modem device list and block or remove it. The assumption is you’ve restarted your server during your remedial actions.

The device itself is a 55" Samsung TV at a hotel I no longer have access to that had Plex installed on it. I has been rebooted multiple times since. The server also has a cron task to reboot the server every 3 days. Since I do not have access to the device, would my router still list it under devices?
Thanks for the fast reply!

Reading some comments leads me to suggest that you logon to https://www.plex.tv/ and logon with your admin account. Delete the Samsung TV. Also, logon locally from the tray icon http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html (assuming you used the default port) with your admin account go to devices and delete the TV if it still exists.

Shut down the PMS in the tray and waits @5 min. Restart PMS. Log back on https://www.plex.tv/ and check your devices and the TV should remain gone.

You mentioned your router lists the device, you could block its IP/MAC. I think you meant PMS.

The FAQ suggest all you need to do is:

Removing a Device
You might want to remove a device from the list. To do this:
Open the Devices list
Locate the device in the list
Click the red x on that device listing
Confirm the removal

But it sounds as if you have tried this

Yes I saw that that in the FAQ. I followed those steps to remove the device. and the device has been off of the list for about 2 months now, but looking into the server Status -> Now Playing I can see this device is still streaming a movie even though it is off the list. Because of this i tried removing every device off of the list so no devices remained. I then had to log into the media center on all of my Devices at home except for my PlayStation which it seems may have this same glitch. I then looked further into the forums and found if you log into plex.tv and go to account settings and change your password, it will have a check box to remove all signed in devices. So I tried that although my device list has repopulated with all my devices at home, this other device is not there however I can still see it steaming a movie from time to time.

Where do you see it streaming? In the status area? If so, is it the same movie or several? Status should also report who is watching (example: 6:36pm USERNAME started playing Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Cheddar on Plex Web (Internet Explorer). This might be you if the TV retained your logon.

If you have a specific name you might try searching your registry and see if the device is sitting in some settings (delete them if so).

***NOT ADVISE: I’ve seen a couple of threads where someone changed their Server’s name and all their devices had to be manually re-pinned into the server. Draw-back: If you’ve shared your server with friends their association will die due to the name change and you will need to re-invite them. They did it by accident and wanted to roll back settings (can’t) so I cannot assume that these were the only effects. If you do it, DON’T do it locally, do it online on https://www.plex.tv/ you don’t want to accidentally orphan your server from PLEX and have to start from scratch. ***

Can you change the port number? Granted, an administrative PITA if you’ve several remote devices, but it would block the rogue Samsung TV.

The devices page only shows devices connected to your user account. If you had logged into the client using another user (or used the user switching feature), it will still be enabled for that other user. If the access was recent, check your PMS logs to see if it was another user account.

Thank you very much! Since I created multiple users on my user account, I had to remove the device from every account I created that the device may have accessed. Thanks again!
