"devices" that can be use to transform an audio device to a "plex renderer"

Hi,

here’s my problem, I use Plex server and Plex apps to watch video on TV/Android/web and it’s quite nice.

Now, I’d like to also be able to listen to my music on various audio devices I own (Hifi amplifier) that don’t support a plex app, and don’t support googlecast neither.
They support DLNA as renderer player but, well… Plex made it perfectly clear that it won’t ever be the way to go… They won’t support direct DLNA casting to a DLNA renderer.

And yes, I know I can use Plex as a DLNA server, but I don’t want to browse my library from a 2 lines display but use the full web gui that makes Plex a great tools !
My wish is to be able to “cast” plex output to my audio devices (as we can do for googlecast).

So, a few year ago, you could buy a google Chromeaudio device and plug it, but it’s discontinued…

So nowadays , what does people use ?
Does anyone now of a project to transcode a googlecast stream to dlna ?
I know of bubleupnp server but it only does the oposite (dlna to googlecast)…

Thank you very much!

Have you considered using Plexamp headless on a RPi (outputting its audio through your equipment)?

Hi,

thanks for that suggestion!
No I didn’t knew that app, I’ll try it!

It won’t be as convenient as being able to use the dlna renderer (that would enable the hifi device to switch to the dlna source automatically), but it seems to at least do exactly what I was looking for in term of “casting music” to the hifi devices!

Thanks again!
