Plexamp stream to UPnP media renderer

It seems like the question has been brought up a few times, but these topics were automatically closed due to inactivity… Yet, I’d like to bring this up again: would it be possible to add support for streaming to UPNP devices? In my hi-fi setup I’ve got a Raspberry PI running Moode OS with UPNP renderer enabled. Moode’s own browsing experience is not that great. By activating DLNA on my Plex server, I can use the Hi-Fi Cast app which has a “so-so” browsing experience and stream to the Raspberry PI via UPNP.

To be able to use the the Plexamp app to browse my music and stream directly to my Raspberry PI would be the dream!

Ps: I also own a Chromecast audio, but it seems like it resamples my audio (eg. when playing a 44Khz file in Plexamp, when I cast it, my DAC receives a 48Khz stream)

There’s already an existing suggestion discussing to add that functionality to Plexamp. Similarly there’s a more extensive suggestion asking to bring such a feature to the Plex environment in general. I suggest you comment/vote in those threads in order to avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.

Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.

Hi Tom! Guess I should’ve broadened my search to DLNA as well…

So is it safe to assume any DLNA “server” will be able to stream to a UPNP client? If so, having the Plexamp App working as DLNA server would make it my 1-stop solution indeed.

No problem closing this thread - still learning as I go
