actually it appears they have both. I see MAC addresses for clients listed as connected both under IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. I might be missing something. obviously not very versed in networking unfortunately.
Since you LAN is IPv4. Please go into each adapter’s network settings and disable IPv6. Because it’s enabled, IPv6 addresses are being assigned and listed by Plex.
I don’t have IPv6 here at all (ISP doesn’t offer V6 yet) so can’t test further but suspect the V4/V6 duality is causing problems. AFAIK, Let the modem/router perform the IPv4 (LAN) ↔ IPv6 translation as it needs. Keep everything on your LAN IPv4.
the clients appear to be working. the test will be after leaving it alone for a while to see if they reconnect. i will test tomorrow. If everything looks good then hopefully we can tackle the remote access…
Remotely if i disable and then enable remote access I get the “green light” for a few seconds and then it goes away. The red “x” is between the internet icon and the public information in my settngs. I believe I have ISP assigned IP address port 32400 forwarded to my servers IP/port 32400.
I have been following this post as I’m having the same issues. I’m not able to understand all the troubleshooting taking place. However, I also have a Motorola modem through Comcast Xfinity. Never had any problems before the last couple weeks. It’s very frustrating. I can access everything through all of my wifi devices (iPads, phones, etc.), but cannot keep a connection on the very desktop computer that the server works from. And I never made any changes for this to take place.
