Direct Play Support For AIFF

So, I make a point of converting/uncompressing all of my FLAC and ALAC files to AIFF for cross platform compatibility - seeing as iTunes/Apple Music does not support FLAC, and ALAC is not supported by many players, it seemed to me that AIFF is the most versatile lossless format (seeing as it allows for artwork and metadata, unlike WAV). Unfortunately, Plex does not support direct play for AIFF, so when I listen to my AIFF files on the Plex app on my phone, I’m getting compressed/transcoded audio. Even worse, when I try to play AIFF files in Plex in my browser on my Mac or PC, they won’t play at all!! This seems like a tremendous oversight - is there any way support for AIFF could be added? The majority of my music collection is in AIFF, so I’d really appreciate it! <3

Can someone from Plex support respond to this? I also have this issue. I have a DLNA device that doesn’t seem to be able to play AIFFs via Plex Direct Play. I have no issues playing AIFFs via other DLNA media servers that support the format. My entire music library is in AIFF format for the same reason that Subnode mentions, cross-platform compatibility. It’s the only format that works across the different platforms and Plex is the only software I use that doesn’t support it. Please help!

Can someone please respond? Does Plex monitor these forums?

They do, but Plex don’t usually comment on suggestions unless they want some clarification.
