Today… Right after I updated my QNAP PMS to the latest beta released, I saw for the first time a direct stream of the audio in 5.1! I thought “AWESOME!!!” Well… It only happened that one time. Now it’s back to transcoding the AC3 to AAC. Why?

Direct stream 5.1 for Live TV/DVR

Are you on still on the Shield? Exoplayer V2 supports AC3 decoding. Right now, only live TV uses Exoplayer v2. For media playback, including DVR recording, ExoPlayer V1 is still use. Does the transcoding happen on liveTv or media playback?
