Direct Stream instead of Direct Play on Amazon Fire Stick

Hi guys, I found other topics like this, but no one with an answer.
I have an Amazon Fire Stick that instead of direct playing, it direct streams, and I don’t understand why. I direct play everything also on my LG TV, is it possible that the fire stick have a worse client than LG?

In the logs this is what I read about it:

Dec 16, 2020 22:11:14.542 [20508] DEBUG - [Transcode] Streaming Resource: Reached Decision id=135178 codes=(General=1001,Direct play not available; Conversion OK. Direct Play=3000,App cannot direct play this item. Direct play is disabled. Transcode=1001,Direct play not available; Conversion OK.) media=(id=215756 part=(id=322748 decision=transcode container=mpegts protocol=hls streams=(Video=(id=544843 decision=copy width=1920 height=800) Audio=(id=544844 decision=copy channels=6 rate=48000))))

Is there maybe any document that explain container’s compatibility with the Fire Stick?
I have all .mkv container and I don’t think it could be that one since it’s the most popular, so I don’t really understand what it could be.

Direct streaming is just Plex taking the applicable streams (video, audio, subtitle) and muxing them in a compatible / supported container. The streams themselves are not touched.

The log lines above the one you found should tell the exact reason why Plex considers the combination of container/streams to be less favorable than doing an on-the-fly remux. Remuxing requires very little CPU… so not sure it’s worth bothering too much about it
