Direct streaming support with ASS subtitles on the Android player [Question]

Server Version#:
Player Version#:
I have not found anything specific (not even from suggestions of similar topics). I wish I could play videos (as on the Windows version) directly with .ASS subtitles.
I don’t understand where the problem lies? Mx Player, VLC, Kodi and any other (decent) video player make the ASS transcode on the phone (just like the PMP version for Windows). I would like to know why it would not be feasible in 2020 (phones with, 8 threads 1.6 ghz, 6gb ram and 4k of monitors it is impossible that it is for reasons of computing power).
I am not referring to my phone, but to the fact that in 2020 for 4 years now the phones have been equipped with more than sufficiently powerful hardware to support an h264 fhd at 3mb / s with ASS.
Just add a flag from the client where to tell it if I want ass to be transcoded from the mobile phone (ExoPlayer) or from the PMS. I know very well about that option on Burn-in … but kidding? The advantage of an ASS is because unlike an SRT you can do cool things and instead you convert me ass to SRT ?! It is not a message of insults I want to clarify. I’m interested to understand if there is a beta or some mod or in any case the support for the ass is in progress. If there is nothing in the pot then I would like to understand where the problem lies.

Bump for the topic!

Honestly I’d like to see ASS subtitle support for Andriod TV or Andriod Phone without having to transcode. I’m getting to sick of this I’m ready to leave plex for good.

Plex support seems to ignore this question

The issue is caused by the lack of (at the time the player in the android app got updated) proper support for .ass in Exoplayer. It has since been improved by Google (november last year), but Plex has not yet updated their version of the player in the app.
