Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: Chromecast Ultra
Hi guys,
I’ve been out-of-the-loop for a couple of years, so please have some patience with me here.
Current setup:
PC 2600X Ryzen + RTX2060 Nvidia + PMS (and library)
-> wired to ->
Router/ WiFi 5gHz (able to sustain speeds 40MB/s between laptops at the moment, for reference)
-> WiFi to ->
Chromecast Ultra (which is plugged in to a 4K TV, which in turn is optical (audio) wired to a basic 3.1 soundbar)
As you can see from my setup - audio is not a priority. I do, however, would like to receive a 4K video image.
Let’s assume I have a library of files encoded HEVC 4K 10bit + DTS-HD (in MKV containers).

I understand the general rule of thumb is “not transcode 4K”, but, is Plex (somehow) able to keep the video and transcode only the audio? In a less resources-heavy manner, I mean.

Audio aside, would the video file be able to be directly played?
