Gives me same issue? Nothing is Directplayed?
Requrirments:
- Container: MP4
- Video Encoding: H.264
- Audio Encoding: AAC
- Bitrate: 20Mbps or lower
It's not direct playing because of "Level 4.1"
We can only Direct Play Level 4.0 safely.
Technically we could probably direct play this video also. But before we do we need to know the peak bitrate for the video. The peak bitrate for Level 4.0 is 20Mbps. The peak bitrate for Level 4.1 is 2+ times higher. We're figuring it out.

Thanks for quick reponse.
So i dont need to redo all my media files?
But expect a fix?

Damn! First time I heard of the level 4.0 qualification.
No wonder my BluRay and DVD rips transcode even though the bitrates are certainly lower than the 20Mbs mentioned in the FAQ and probably have an average in the 2-4Mbs range. I even switched to MP4 containers from my usual, favourite MKV to get Direct Play with little or no luck. I'm pretty sure I've read every post for direct play problems, and where people have include the media info the Level 4.0 qualifier was never mentioned when that was more than likely the real problem.
No biggie, my server can transcode or re-mux, but maybe update the FAQ for the media types for PlayStation to include that important piece of information (and reference frames too, if that is part of the problem) In the meantime, I'll keep this in mind for future rips.

Absolutely. We got the TV FAQ updated but I think we missed the PS3/4 FAQ.
The L40 restriction is something we're trying to work around. So many files are encoded at L41 but actually are entirely within the bitrate range of L40 - meaning we have no reason _not_ to play them. Definitely talking / testing around L40 vs L41 playback.
Direct Play or Bust.
4.1 being Directplayed on all the other devices.
Except Playstation, would be a bummer if that is the only one not accepting 4.1 for directplay
And i guess 80% of Plex users got their Lib in 4.1 since its almost standard in encode programs.
