Disable video stream transcoding not working on psg subtitles on windows system not working on my i7 windows machine with psg subtitles it does work with srt subtitles on hevc 10 files but it does works on xbox series x nvidia shield tv pro could u guys fix it so disable stream transcoding also works with psg subtitles on windows 7 machines?
PGS subtitles (and on some players .ASS/.SSA as well) are quite troublesome and will typically force a transocde.
Not all players/devices natively support PGS subtitles so your experience will vary depending on which device you’re watching from and might have to endure the burning of subtitles if you have them selected. Alternatively, you could try to search for SRT subtitles from OpenSubtitles via the player UI you’re using. I do this on occasions when the burning of subtitles causes some buffering in anything I’m watching.
ok thnx for the explation it works fine on my xbox series x and ps5 but i gues my windows 7 pc is not powerfull enough for psg subtitles and disable video transcoding stil i watch via my nvidia shield TV Pro anyways.
no i have windows 10 my pc is good medium i7 4790k gtx 1060 extreme edition 6gb but it only fails on windows pc not shield nor xbox series x so its not an issue just wanted to know if its fixeble for i7 my internet is good i have a 500/500 conenction
When you watch on your Windows PC, are you using a browser to watch, or the native Plex-For-Windows app? The video player in the browser I think is incapable of displaying PSG subs, so the server is forced to burn it into the video. Since you disabled transcoding, it cannot do so.
One more key aspect:
If the video requires transcoding because of the subtitles… that job fully relies on the CPU (HW accelerated transcoding with the GPU doesn’t work if subtitles have to be burned into the image in parallel.
The i7 4790k might have trouble to pull this off if it’s got to do the job without your GPU.
i use chrome browser but i have a ps5 xbox series x and nvidia shield tv pro on these devices its all working with disable video transcoding and psg subtitles just not on my windows i7 pc.
it does work with psg subtitles just on my nvidia shield tv pro and xbox series x but not pc its not a big issue.
Plex Web does not support direct playing PGS subtitles. When enabled, Plex Media Server will attempt to transcode the video. If transcoding is disabled, playback will fail.
If your PC is running Windows 10, use Plex Desktop instead of Plex Web. Plex Desktop direct plays most video and audio formats. You can download it from plex.tv.
Plex Web: Video is transcoding to burn subtitles into video stream.
Plex Desktop: Direct Play.
ok wel i never watch anyways on my pc mostly i watch on my shield tv pro or xbox series x when i play games on it and if i’m bored i’l watch plex or twitch i have my pc running plex 24/7 anyways and watch on my device console:) Doctor who s1 episode 1 has 1080p (HEVC Main 10) all my doctor who season has 1080p (HEVC Main 10) psg wil not work with windows pc but it does on my shield pro or xbox series x with psg subtitles but i tweak the subtitles anyways with subtitle edit and srt files play fine on my pc. it only happens with 1080p (HEVC Main 10) files normal 1080p/720p files wil play fine with psg subtitle on pc
Is that happening with the browser or did you use one the native desktop apps (Plex for Windows, Plex HTPC)?
I’m not sure. There is one reference to Windows 10 (post 4), and at least two referencing Windows 7 (posts 1, 3). I would guess Windows 10, and any reference to “Windows 7” is because of a slip of the finger when referencing their “Windows i7 pc” (post 7).
What we can’t seem to get Dragon to acknowledge is that while the computer itself might be perfectly capable of playing a video file, the PLAYER (the actual window that plays the file) might not support the file. HEVC is notorious for not being decodable by browser players, even if the computer itself is capable of it.
If Dragon could try watching this video using the official Plex-for-Windows app instead of using a web browser, we think it could be fixed.
i’m playing it fine on my shield tv pro and xbox series x so it’s not a big issue anyways i throught maybe it could be fixed on browser but i don’t watch on my browser anyways mostly i watch on xbox series x or my shield tv pro
