Disabling Pi 3 Bluetooth and Wifi modules

Hi!

I’ve fallen afoul of issue (1) on this matrix, specifically my Raspberry Pi 3 with RemotePi board receives ghost key presses from my remote control due to onboard Wifi antennae being so close to the IR receiver.

Now, I have a wired connection and have no need of bluetooth on my media center, so was wondering how I might disable the onboard Pi3 WifI and Bluetooth modules in RasPlex/OpenElec? Allegedly that fixes the problem.

Really appreciate any steer that can be given. Take it as read I can bash script if directed - I just dont know OpenElec or Pi3 well enough to know where to start.

Go to System Settings and disabled wireless connections and Bluetooth.

Does this **totally disable the Wifi and Bluetooth chipsets though? Reason I’m asking is that I’m still getting the IR repeats even when I’ve tried using those toggles.

You may also need to blacklist brcmfmac & brcmutil).

If you are using the RemotePi board I reported this to them some weeks ago, they have info on their website, they are producing a new board for the RPi3.
