In experimenting, I've plugged in a bluetooth dongle and a Wii remote works (mostly) so I'm thinking of getting a bluetooth remote hoping it will work better than IR seems to. It doesn't have to be complicated - simpler the better. However I am looking for recommendations on remotes that will definitely work out of the box on Rasplex 0.5.1 / Pi2 The Pi arrived a few days ago and is a fresh install of this version.
I tried a bluetooth adapter on my pi2 (hoping to use my existing apple bluebooth keyboard) . Couldn't get it to work properly.
Now I simply use a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard. It's not as slim as a remote, but it shows up to the pi as a regular keyboard/mouse device, so it works in everything I tried, even in the berryboot's boot menu. If I ever repurpose the pi for something else, having a wireless keyboard would be useful too.
Well, this morning the Wii remote has decided not to communicate. back to square 1. The page referred to relates to remotes available outside the UK, and not tested on the Pi 2.
Apart from go back to the Pi 1, or abandon the idea of a media player, what options are there that work with the Pi 2? Is the problem the Pi 2, or Rasplex? Would the FLIRC dongle work on the Pi 2 perhaps? Has anyone tried this remote on the Pi 2? http://www.amazon.co.uk/JUSTOP-F20-Control-Keyboard-Leaning/dp/B00EPE4A08
What remote controls are people using on the Pi 2 / Rasplex? Some must!

I've been using the Flirc dongle with my Pi2 and Rasplex and OpenElec just fine. It mimics a keyboard, so it works out of the box with no setup required on the Pi. All you need to do is map your remote to the appropriate keystrokes on the Flirc by plugging this into a Mac or PC and running the configuration app. All very straight forward.
It's a little more expensive than some other options, but for ease and reliability, you can't beat it.
