I currently share media to some folks Media via Google Drive which allows them to download it for optimal viewing how they want, but also is confusing to most and requires explanation from me and also lots of steps for them and not ideal situation for them to view my Personal Media...Plex is hands down the best way to consume and share personal media on any screen. I cannot give all these folks access to Plex b/c of potential bandwidth (way more so) and computing (very much less so) concerns about overall usability for me and those I share my personal media with to enjoy.
If Plex allowed me to "dis-able streaming" for my users this would instantly double/triple the users I share with b/c most of those folks are only downloading a movie / tv show here or there. It's frustrating as the "server owner" when users complain to you/require support and if a user just was allowed to utilize Plex Sync this would guarantee all media would play back perfectly (subtitles etc) making more people exposed to / loving Plex!!! You could argue that if they're only watching limited media that bandwidth wouldn't be an issue, but the problem is most would want to watch something Friday/Saturday nights which if 15+ people tried and I only have 36mbps upload that would be disastrous. But if they sync, most would do it that week / earlier in the day etc and would be much less bandwidth...I could "instruct' them to just sync, but most people are dictated by the human nature of doing what's easiest and most likely just attempt to stream, and also this is now putting me in a position to do more work initially and on-going which I would rather not. Plex makes me smile b/c I get to consume my Personal Media easily on any screen, and this feature would allow me to easily share with others and make them easily smile b/c it would plain JUST WORK for them and would make me smile bigger because it's now simpler for me to share from the lack of support I have to give.
So to me this small change instantly allows Plex users to better share with more friends/family/people and from this simple change a large increase in new users (e.g. more paid downloads of apps) and greater exposure to further people happens! Plex wins and We win...don't you just love win-win situations.

***Please like this thread*** if you as well would like Plex to allow the Disabling of Streaming for a User ASAP :)
