I was expecting that Sweet were the only kinds of Fade that Plexamp could produce, but that doesn’t appear to be the case, since disabling the option still seems to leave what sounds like a full second of fade that can be fairly disconcerting when hitting previous or next.
Is there a way I can prevent noticeable fading entirely?
I disabled the option days ago, and have been well through the 25 songs its configured to cache. The fades don’t seem to be the same as the Sweet Fades though, if that makes a difference, they’re always only about a second long. I had been playing through the same
“Library Radio” that whole time, but having just tested with other radios, and deleting the cache entirely, I’m still experiencing the same issue. I’m using the Windows app, by the way, and playing a mix of MP3, Vorbis, and FLAC.
And thanks for the app. I’m absolutely loving it otherwise. I can’t wait until it gets a wider release so I can start recommending it to friends and family.
OK, the cache shouldn’t make any difference, the settings only affect current and next track, essentially. So stopping or playing something else will reset it.
At what exact point are you experiencing the fades? We do a soft fade when pausing/resuming, and when skipping tracks, but the Sweet Fades themselves occur between tracks when “left alone”.
Thanks for the kind words!
Wider than in both app stores and 3 desktop platforms?
Yeah, it’ll be these soft fades then. It’s most noticeable when skipping tracks backwards or forwards, and can lead to some short but jarring mixes, especially when vocals or loud sounds are just coming into play (e.g. hitting ‘next’ just as or before a verse starts). Making it only a fraction of a second might improve that, though I’d be happy without any fades as well.
Ha, and right you are, my apologies — the wide platform support right out of the door was definitely impressive and very much appreciated. So let me amend that: I can’t wait to recommend it to non-pass holders, to help lure them into the Plex lifestyle. Oh also—the flavour text around the app is just hilarious. Love it. More people need to see it—let 'em see it, Elan… when you’re ready.
Ah yeah; it’s possible we might enable some configuration around that in the future, but trust me that going from 100 to 0 w/o any fade sounds even worse
You can always add them to your Plex Home for a taste
