Discover: Future Movies

I used to be able to add movies due to be released in the future to my Watchlist. Search no longer shows any future releases. Can that be added back? For instance, trying to add the new Ant Man movie but it doesn’t show up.

I cannot see/find that particular movie but Discover still finds future movies for me (I just tested this with a few Nov/Dec releases)

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/provider/tv.plex.provider.metadata/details?key=%2Flibrary%2Fmetadata%2F5e161a83bea6ac004126e148

There is an error with the movie through Discover though.

How did you arrive at the watch.plex.tv link? If I search there or through the Android client I get no results.

I used the API.

Ok so it appears Plex web and Plex Android are not using the same method then.

Would also like to know how you used the API to get that result if you have a minute to explain.

Use the “Fix Match” API with tmdb-640146 to get the Plex GUID 5e161a83bea6ac004126e148.

GET http://localhost:32400/library/metadata/<ratingKey>/matches?manual=1&title=tmdb-640146&agent=tv.plex.agents.movie&year=&language=en-CA

Use the Plex metadata provider API with the Plex GUID.

GET https://metadata.provider.plex.tv/library/metadata/5e161a83bea6ac004126e148

Wow that’s pretty cool thanks for that!

Just came back here to say search results are still very inconsistent for upcoming releases. Things coming out in a few weeks (Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special) don’t show up. Movies like Avengers Kang Dynasty due in 2025 do show up. Would like to be able to add things coming out soon to my watchlist. Current search makes that difficult.

Media won’t show up in search of it is unrated:

Ok that makes more sense, though weird that some future movies have a rating already when they haven’t even been made yet.

Hopefully they can loosen the non rated requirements.

I suppose for some movies you know they’re designed for a certain audience. You’ll have a hard time to find a main franchise Marvel movie that’s not PG-13
