On some devices (Firestick / xbox / ios) that don’t have categories pinned all they see is discover and can’t watch anything unless someone navigates into more > Plex > server pins.
How do I disable Discover ?
When I search for media that is installed (web), DISCOVER “More ways to watch” pops up, no longer presents search results of MY media.
I understand the sellouts that run Plex sold out to Rockwell Automation in 2021 and now the parent company is giving the finger to all of us who have invested in this product the last decade and most of us will be leaving to Emby and other such products because of Discover, a show of this unscrupulous corporate greed.
We need some hacks to disable Discover.
like for example disabling the python script:
mv /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pyudev/discover.py /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pyudev/discover.py.bak
service plexmediaserver restart
Now to purge from the view or database and block all updates.
Maybe I should do a:
yum history plexmediaserver
yum history undo plexmediaserver
(unfortunately with a recent re-build furthest I could go back is 2021. Anyone got older packages ?)
Let’s figure out a way to take back Plex for us users who have spend hundreds of dollars on this product and return control of our media back to the user.
Devs, do you care at all that the actions of the teams with this new directive is killing Plex Media server ?
Help us to disable Discover and have some freedom over our own media or we will all be forced to cancel our Plex Passes, trash our lifetime memberships, and simply move on.
