Display embedded JPEG inside DNG photo files?

Hello,
Is there a setting which tells Plex to show the embedded jpeg image instead of trying to convert/transcode dng files-photos?

Coming from Emby… here…I just setup a new Plex server. The main reason for me trying to switch from Emby to Plex is I heard that Plex is able to show embedded JPEG image inside my dng photos.

However, I find that my Plex installation has some problems:

  1. It seems to be converting dng instead of showing the embedded jpeg image inside dng

I can tell this because I notice every time I try to click on a dng file icon, the server CPU goes to 100% for around 30 seconds and then after the photo shows up on the client’s screen, the CPU usage goes down.

Also, I see lots of files in this folder:
…\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Cache\PhotoTranscoder
That folder is around 1.5 GB today.

  1. It does not show my DNG photos most of the time.
Very rarely it shows dng files…and that too after a long wait, around 30 seconds. Most of the time it shows an image icon in the center of the screen. This is through FireStick 4K.
On the web browser, it shows the image more consistently.

  2. No thumbnails of dng files
Only a camera icon on web browser and a “right pointing” icon on FireStick shows up instead of thumbnails.

Any help/tips are highly appreciated!

Almost a week has passed and absolutely no one has posted a reply to my thread :frowning: Anyway, for reference, here is one post/thread where someone is saying that Plex is able to display embedded jpeg inside a dng file:

Here is another dude saying that dng works in Plex, and the fact the he is seeing his edits made in dng files means Plex is able to extract and display jpeg inside dng file:
