Display Original Language in Movie Details (Pre-play screen)

Get the Original Language from TMDB or IMDB and display it in the Movie Details (Pre-play screen) for us to select the original audio (if available)

Additionally, it would help us to filter by Original Language > “English/Spanish/French/etc”

Thanks in advance

I’m not sure I fully understand your suggestion…
Let’s say I have a French movie in my library (French production, dialogues recorded in French)… my rip however only contains the English, Spanish and German dubs… what good will it do to me to know the original language used to be French?

Not disputing your suggestion, just trying to understand your use case for such a feature?

As a side note… there’s already an existing suggestion discussing an option to auto-select the original language audio track of a video (iirc their use case was to watch the original audio with subs)

Hello tom80H, let’s take your example with the French movie, where my rip only contains English, Spanish, and German dubs… We would at least know we will watch the movie in a foreign language that is not the original language of the film, and maybe decide at that moment if we can obtain the rip with the original language, or continue to watch it knowing that maybe it is a bad dub. This is for awareness.

This is a simple request, nothing complex in my opinion and it doesn’t pretend to select the language automatically.

Additionally, as mentioned, it would be great to filter the movies by Original Language.

Just briefly catching up on this thread. I’ve found this existing suggestion which is already discussing an option to add the original language information to Plex‘ metadata. Please comment/vote in that thread in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
