It would really save a lot of people a lot of work if it was possible whatever the library language to keep the original tiltes of the movies.
For example in a english library to get all the meta in English but still keep the original country of production (france, sweden, Japan, etc…) title and thus having it indexed as such.
I would have thought that unchecking “localized titles” in the plex agent should do the task but unfortunately it doesnt.
For movies from specific country using a different alphabet (china, Japan, Korea, Russia, etc) it would still require some work to change to a readable version for “westerners” but it would still be better than manually renaming all the “foreign” aka non english movies of a database.
An second option allowing to keep latin alphabet for those specific language would be even better but lets not get to greedy.
I’m migrating an enormous base from one server to another and the idea of having to manually change all the non english movies is just daunting…

Actually, for my use case it would be optimal to be able to tell plex which languages to keep, and it can default everything else to English:
English is not my first language, so I do have quite a number of movies in my native language (German). I would of course like those to display the original German title. For everything else though, I use English (both English-language and other foreign movies), so I’d like everything else to stay in English.
I imagine many other users probably want the default to be their native languages (whether that’s English or a different language that Plex supports), but have one or two other languages that they speak as well, and would want movies that are originally in one of those languages to show the original title.
I imagine this setting could work similarly to the language settings in sub-zero, where you can choose several languages and order them. Right now in the Plex settings you can choose the main language - that would be the default - and under that you could have the option to add additional languages you understand.
Plex already knows that I am in Germany, and apparently does assume that I speak German, because it shows me news both in English and German. So I think it would make sense for Plex to also support your own media library being in two or more languages.
But assuming that that’s too difficult to implement (or just not a priority)… I’d be happy just to have a switch to keep original titles for everything. Right now I have to rename every one of my German movies, and even though the title should be locked, Plex infuriatingly insists on switching some of them back to English every now and then.
