Searched around in this Feature Suggestion channel, however did not find a request for dividers in collection view. I think it would be awesome if we could add dividers and break the monotonous wall of collections into smaller, more manageable chunks.
In my example you can see 3 lines breaking collections into 3 parts: “Animation”, “Live action” and “Documentaries”. I believe this feature should not be hard to implement - I could imagine there being an option in the collection tab like a “+” or somewhere hidden in the 3 dots, to add a divider. After this collections could be managed by drag and drop or perhaps by pressing the edit button on the collection poster and choosing to which dividers they belong (I think this should be done as checkmarks - you check to which divider the collection should belong). I believe that by default there should be no dividers, however once one is created - there should be two instantly - something like “Default” or “Unassigned” and the one that was created.
I believe this feature would make navigation and finding movies even easier.
I do not see any need for this feature. I have no trouble finding any movie in any collection with current visuals in any Plex view.
My old eyes need all the help they can get under any circumstances. However this does not seem it would help at all.
It just adds nearly invisible clutter to the screen without really adding anything that would help me.
I do not care much about this one way or the other but it seems that adding this would simply be a way to squander valuable developer time that could be better spend fixing one or more of the bugs or issues that have been around for years. That means that since this is in the “fluff” category and Plex LOVES to add nearly useless fluff Plex will, probably, implement it within a fer months.
Relax. They just suggested something they thought might help. It isn’t a direct attack. If you don’t agree, that’s fine. You don’t have to overly exaggerate simply to take a poop on their suggestion simply because you don’t like it personally. Relax. Say you don’t agree and move on.
You don’t see value, they do. The world isn’t going to fall apart over this.
So it is OK for “them” to post a detailed view as to why this is a good idea but it is not OK for me to post a detailed view why I believe it is a bad idea.
I believe you must have problems with reading comprehension or you simply do not read English well.
You will not scare me off by bullying me nor will you prevent me from presenting my views on any subject I feel I should.
My post was simply as strong a rebuttal of what I think is an unneeded “feature” as I could make but it was polite while yours, on the other hand, was not al all polite. Contrary to what you seem to believe it is quite possible to have a disagreement without calling names or attacking other people. It is the ideas that matter not the people behind them.
The only “attack” that has happened in this thread is the one you directed at me.
When following up on some other suggestions I noticed this request is already covered in one of those. That suggestion has a slightly wider scope and asks for an option to have sub-sections in the collection view as well as within collections (the latter being the overlap with this suggestion).
I suggest you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes and attention on that subject. Therefore closing this thread as a duplicate
