I can not get VLC to recognize my Pi 4 with rasbian. VLC recognizes my windows server with minimal issues. I have the same settings for both servers in plex configuration. Both servers are using ethernet connection to the router. I can connect with media player to the pi with no issues. I have tried disabling and reenabling DLNA and GDM with nothing. I’ve restarted multiple times with nothing.
Have you checked your other ports?
DLNA does not only require GDM network discovery but specific access to ports udp/1900 and tcp/32469
I didn’t to have any firewall installed but I found UFW and installed it. I set up the ports as listed in the FAQ and rebooted my server. VLC now sees and works good on my Pi server now. It does seem that after I watch one movie or episode that in order to watch another one on the same device I need to restart PMS. Other than that it works great at 30mbps wifi streaming on the same movie plex can’t play for more than 3 seconds unfortunately.
