Just a quick question. I have windows 7, python 2.7.5, plex Version 0.9.7.28, and latest plex connect. I have appletv 3 on 5.3. The APTV is on my wifi. I gave the aptv a static IP.

I set the DNS for the aptv  to the server computer's static IP. When I run the script, a black DOS box opens and closes. I select the trailer app and it shows busy untill it says no connection. If I restart the apple tv, all appletv apps disappear except settings and my home share app. When I change the DNS back to original, all of the apps return. Any idea on the issue?. I check for log files, but none are showing. I am new to this, but I followed the guides and have yet to get it to work.

Sounds like your PlexConnect server is NOT working.

The symptoms you describe are those of an aTV with no DNS server (well, in this case, the DNS server is not answering).

When you start PlexConnect, it should remain visible in a DOS/Command Prompt window until you press Enter to stop it.

The fact the box opens & closes is a bad sign.

Please open a Windows Command Prompt, go to the folder of your PlexConnect python files and do run the PlexConnect.py command line.

Thanks for your help, I found that I had to manually launch python first before running plex connect.
