I m annoyed till a moment with a missing option. When updating a movie file in plex with another file quality (for example replacing aa 720p version with a 1080p version), Plex consider that this movie has been recently added in Plex.
In a way it is correc, but in another way it is not. I m all the time disturbed by those movies i get better qaulity in the view recently added.
My movie folder does not integrate file quality. It is Movie name (Year). Only the movie file integrates the video quality. Il could be interesting to add a option to disable this addition in “Recently Added” when a existing entry in the Plex Database is replaced by the Same one with a different video file format / quality.
You must add the new file before you remove the old one
Then scan library
Notice the ‘duplicate’ indicator on the poster
Only then remove the old file
Scan library again
Empty library trash
Thx for the reply OttoKerner.
Yes it works that way, but this manual process is not possible with tools like sickrage, radarr, couchpotato etc … anything with automatic quality upgrade quality profiles.
I m sure lots of people are using those tools.
