Maybe I am mistaken but I don’t think it used to be this way. When I replace files with a better quality copy, I will move the files to the folder and then delete the old files. Yet the episodes show as recently added. I a notification program that hooks into the Plex API that lets me know when I have new content and it gets frustrating thinking I have new episodes of a show when it is just an upgraded copy. Is there any way to fix this? I didn’t think it used to be like this. I seem to recall being able to do this and Plex ignoring it as new.
Always do it similarly as outlined here:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201154537-move-media-content-to-a-new-location/
- Add the updated copy, use a slightly different filename of course (add the [quality] in brackets for instance)
- ‘Scan Library files’
- posters should now have a duplicate indicator on them
- remove the old files
- ‘Scan Library files’ again
- empty library trash
- duplicate indicators should be gone now
Another reason why this will happen is if you have Empty trash automatically after every scan
enabled.
Ah, I might have changed the trash option at some point. I’ll give that a shot.
