Do NOT upgrade NetGear ReadyNAS to ReadyOS 6.10.10

Back in January, NetGear released a new version of ReadyOS, after having discontinued the ReadyNAS. I found ReadyOS 6.10.10 to be unexpected given the discontinuation – and suspect given point number two of the release notes says:

The Apps installation function is removed from the Apps section on the System page (also referred to as Overview page) of the Admin Page.

I only recently installed ReadyOS 6.10.10 (accidentally, but what the heck,) and found I could no longer upgrade PMS. Fortunately, I was able to downgrade to ReadyOS 6.10.9.

This is a nail in the ReadyNAS coffin, as well as dashing the hopes of NetGear releasing ReadyOS as OSS. This means any future updates addressing security issues will be encumbered. Which is unfortunate as the ReadyNASes have been rock-solid for me, and a cornerstone of my PMS system.

I am hoping PMS continues to support the ReadyNAS for a long time to come.
