ReadyNas Pro 6 - Plex is DEAD

Server Version#: v0.9.14.6.1620-e0b7243
Player Version#:

I wanted to thank Plex for killing off my $3000 server. Ive been using Plex for years with my Netgear ReadyNas Pro 6 in conjunction with Roku. Now that my Roku automatically updated Plex, my ReadyNas wont work. Its forcing me to update the plex install on the server which Plex has stopped supporting. There is no 1.10.0 version for my ReadyNas PRo 6. Why the hell cant you make an update for my NAS? Its got plenty of power to run Plex. Im super pissed and will be going on an online rampage against Plex until this is resolved.

Try to manually add Plex media server’s IP to Roku and allow insecure connection in the same network for both Roku and Plex media server.

The ROKU problem is a developer change.

  1. Go into the roku and look at your secure network settings.
  2. You’ll find the old setting wasn’t carried forward
  3. Put it back to where you had it.
  4. 99.9% of folks problems solved

Inside Plex it says my server requires 1.10.0 or higher, wtf.

Is there an update for my readynas pro 6?? im running v0.9.14.6.1620-e0b7243.

Plex basically is not supporting my server anymore. Did anyone read my post?

The price you paid means nothing for longevity or support. You paid for an expensive Network Attached Storage device. Released in 2010. The mere fact that you can or could run Plex from it, does not mean, nor should it ever mean that it is a truly suitable server. However, you can setup a device far better suited to being a server, and use your NAS as the storage.

Your device was rendered obsolete in 2016. See announcement in this link: ARMv5, PowerPC, and ReadyNAS ROS4 no longer supported starting with Plex Media Server 0.9.17.0

The point is that this device has more than enough power to run Plex as an addon. it would be easy to support. Thx for sending a snooty reply.

Yes, its a NAS, not a “media server”. However, there are so many supported Netgear NAS devices on your list with performance far below what this box can do. Thanks for being lazy and cutting this nice piece of hardware from your support.

This device is FAR from obsolete, dont patronize me, just because you released an announcement in 2016 doesnt mean a ton of people using this device arent pissed. Ill just move to another solution, I honestly never really fell in love with the lazy GUI Plex had, half the stuff in Plex was broken or non functional.

Bye Plex, we had a good run.

It does not have plenty of horsepower. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+E5300+%40+2.60GHz&id=1098

It can’t do a single 1080p transcode with that weak processor.

I don’t work for Plex nor have I ever worked for Plex.

But… Bye… waves
