Updating Plex Media Server on ReadyNAS 104

Hi,

 

I have a ReadyNAS 104 with the latest OS firmware (6.1.4). Installed is the Plex which is available through the Apps page. The version it shows is 0.9.7.28.0-d1f35c1-netgear2.

 

I would like to update this to the latest version available for ARM, which as far as I can see here

is 0.9.8.10. Can anyone guide me as to what I have to do? The Upload option in the web gui seems to only be designed for .deb packages, which I cannot use since the ARM Releases are .bin.

Hi Alex,

Currently PMS 0.9.8.10xx (Plex Media Server) is not supported for the Readynas 6x ARM devices (RN102, RN104). So the only package we have till now is the package provided from Netgear via the Apps on your NAS device.

However there is a guy on the Plex forum somewhere reporting that he modified the PMS package for Readynas 5x to get it loaded on the RN104.

I am kind of in the same boat, because I also would like to upgrade my PMS on the RN102.

@Plex developers, any ETA when to expect PMS to be ready for ReadyNAS 6x ARM????

Up until now you are the only guy on the whole forum who actually made progress in upgrade PMS on the ReadyNAS ARM 6x platform.

I am supporting you in getting more information why no new builds are provided for the ReadyNAS ARM 6x systems.

@Plex devs, would it be possible to provide us more information regarding the support of this platform?

Now that Plex supports Chromecast, an upgrade to the plex server for ReadyNAS 102/104 is necessary.  Without it, it isn't possible to cast to the Chromecast.  Add me to the list of interested parties!

you could try again my post. I completly reworked my post and built a script which does all the work you have to do. I would be happy if you try it and report if cromecast works.

Yes, its working since a few months.

I have the ReadyNAS 312 and I want to update it. Will I have the same problem as mentioned here on the ReadyNAS 102?
