I’ve installed the latest PMS version and would like to say “thanks” for implementing clearLogos as local Assets.

I’ve tried with several TV Show where it was missing and others where I had better versions and it works perfectly.

squareArt, what is it? is it the square background used in the new Experience on mobile/tablet devices?

I’ve tried with a squareArt.jpg on a TV Show but it did not make a difference.

What I’ve noted is that on all the TV Shows where I have set a clearLogo.jpg file, an entry in the metadata_items table in the column user_square_art_url has been created. The content is not the same in both fields.

  • (API) Add support for ‘squareArt’ element type (PM-2959)
  • (Metadata) Add support for local ‘squareArt’ image for movies and TV shows (PM-2959)
  • (Metadata) Add support for local clearLogo images for movies and TV shows (PM-4098)

Think its for mobile devices, where the plex client will use a 1:1 ratio imagine for the background instead of the traditional fanart 16:9 ratio used for TV type devices. However, I’m open to correction on this.

Yes, that’s what I thought too but I placed a square squareArt.jpg alongside with a clearLogo.png in the root folder of a TV Show and the clearLogo showed up but not the squareArt.

Tried on an iPhone and an iPad.

Maybe its not enabled on the client yet ? Lets see if someone from plex can shed some light on it.

There is still some work on the mobile clients to be done to support the square artwork from PMS and it won’t currently do anything.

Local clear logos do work however.

Is it possible to upload a logo with Python to a collection as it can be done with movies and TV shows?

Themes can be uploaded to a collection with:
collection.uploadTheme(filepath="C:\\themes\\theme.mp3")

I tried to upload a logo with:

collection.uploadLogo(filepath="C:\\logos\\logo.png")

but I get an error

AttributeError: 'Collection' object has no attribute 'uploadLogo'

You’ll have to ask somebody who maintains that Python library. On the PMS side there is nothing preventing this.

What is the aspect ratio, max size for clear logos?

We don’t restrict this, you can upload what you feel looks good in the app.

Looks like the PlexAPI library has been updated to 4.17.2 and enabled:

  • Add logos to music, photos, collections, and playlists
  • Add ability to select/lock/unlock logos and delete resources (this one will probably interest @dokuro :slight_smile: )

I just tried uploading a logo to a collection and didn’t get any errors but the logo is not shown in iOS devices right now.

Thanks for the heads up, will certainly take a look when a good beta comes out. Version 1.43.0.10162 is broken for me and my 5070 nvidia card so I can’t move to it until they fix that.

@dokuro with regards to the nvidia issue on the current beta, there is another beta update coming soon that should address that issue.

@Atomatth FYI… installed plexmediaserver-1.43.0.10346-fc911a729 and it does not fix the transcoding issues with my 5070 nvidia card so I’ve reverted back to the public build.
