Brand new install of Plex Server on Windows 10 with a Hauppauge WinTV-QuadHD tuner. FireTV boxes and sticks, some wired, some wireless. Audio works but video just spins the circle forever. I posted on the community forum and a couple of other people have the same problem. I’m wondering if it’s widespread, or if it “just works” for anyone.
Working for me it appears. Tested both HD & SD. Shows direct play on server so no transcoding happening. Running a Fire stick connected wireless obviously.
LIVE TV is working for me.
I have the spinning circle as well. Some stations work but most spin so seems like a transcend issue base on how the stations are broadcasting.
I also have no video w/ the spinning circle & working audio (Fire TV stick). I have yet to find a channel that works. My tuner is a hdhomerun connect.
Working fine on fire stick and fire tv
I now have a spinning circle. I purposely am recording 2 shows, and I verified that the tuners are in use. Went to watch a 3rd show (I have two Extends – 4 tuners) and it locked up with the spinning donut of death. I suspect that it can’t grab the 3rd tuner and is waiting for one to be free. However, the picture is real nice. No interlace artifacts. On this, good job. On the lockup, bad job. And I was sooooo excited for live tv, just to be dashed on the jagged rocks below.
Spinning circle of death with latest plex running on a windows system with plenty of RAM and CPU (normal plex functions very well) when using live tv and Fire TV 4K version and HD Homerun.
Live TV works fine via my Windows Server 2012 Essentials / PMS 1.8.3 server (Core i7 2500K / Asus P8P68 Pro / 8GB DDR3) and Amazon FireTV 4K box. Tuner is a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime and some channels do have interlacing but is otherwise fairly solid.
Live TV is an option Via my Synology DS1815+ / PMS 1.7.6 NAS via the FireTV app but that spins out when put to the test. I plan to upgrade PMS to version 1.8.4 soon.
I was running 1.8.4. Just upgraded it. Maybe a mistake?
On my Synology DS1815+ it was a mistake to upgrade to PMS 1.8.0. I couldn’t get even a single DVR recording out of it before it would lockup. That is why I had to roll it back to 1.7.6 and have been slow to install upgrades on it since.
I’m running a core i7-7700 with 16GB of ram, so I don’t think it’s a performance issue. I have a Plex employee looking at my logs over on the community forum, so maybe they will find something.
Running good here. 1.8.3 on Readynas316 server and many clients. Biggest glitch is the iPad 2 is temperamental with live TV. FireTV HDMI is my favorite.
I also only get a spinning circle on my FireTV when trying to watch live tv. It eventually decides to reconnect to my plex server, after which any further attempts to watch live tv result result in “an error occured” message. All other media plays fine, and I can watch live tv without issue from the web client, and iphone. Running 1.8.4.4249 on FreeNAS with HDHomerun tuner. The HDHomerun app on the FireTV also works fine.

Did you try going into the settings of your FireTV and restarting the app?
Not working here either. Just installed a fresh version of PMS on Windows 10 using HDHomerun Connect with antenna. None of my Amazon devices will stream LIVE TV but my android devices seem to work fine. I should also mention the unofficial HDHRviewer channel seems to work fine in the Amazon devices.

Yes, I did on both the FireTV and Fire Stick. I’ve also rebooted the devices to no avail.
I have the same problem with my fire TV but the Fire Stick seems to work okay (although very jittery). Works great on my iPhone. Hopefully they figure this out soon. I was super excited they rolled out this update for the Amazon devices but they just don’t seem to work as well as iOS devices. Might just need to buy the new Apple TV…
Fire TV v2. It’s been working since the FireTV app was updated. No issues. I have mine wired, not wireless. If nothing else, you might test it wired just to see if it makes a difference - lots of wireless settings can cause problems with video streaming/bandwidth. I have run all the updates since with no problems.
