I’ve got my PR4100 up and running with Plex and everything works fine except for the generation of thumbnails. I’ve turned then on globally and also verified that it is turned on by library. I do a full refresh and the meta-data updates just fine but it just never generates the thumbnails. I’ve looked at the log files and there are no errors and I don’t see any indication that it is even starting the thumbnail creation process.
When I get home tonight I’ll post the server log file and see if I can find any BIF giles. I guess my real question for now can anyone verify that thumbnails are working for them on the PR4100?
I’ve had lots of thumbnail generation issues. I have a lot of issues with them disappearing overnight. After I turned off all the maintenance tasks, they haven’t been deleted…yet.
I’ve deleted and restarted building a library so many times.
Have you at least restarted the NAS once after installing Plex? I think it helped with my thumbnail generation. It was really messed up in the beginning.
I’m curious that if you go to an item and select Match or Fix Incorrect Match does it finally get the thumbnail?
I just restarted the NAS and I did go to a specific movie and did a Fix Incorrect Match but still not seeing any thumbnails yet. Though they take along time to generate so it’s hard to tell. Do you know where the BIF files are stored? Also which log file would I look in to see the thumbnail generation happening? Thanks for your help!
I finally gave up and I’m just running Plex on a separate Linux box. There thumbnails work great there. A bit disappointing since Plex is one of the main reasons I got the WD PR4100.
