Plex stopped generating thumbnails when media is added sometime ago although it will eventually add them during the maintenance period. Also trying to force generate the thumbnails through the Analyze function will no longer work either
I’m having the same problem - Video Preview thumbnails have stopped being generated for me all together several Plex versions ago. Currently on the latest Version 1.20.5.3600.
Anyone else having this problem and know how to correct?
4 months later, still having this issue. I can click analyze on a title to have it generate the thumbnails but they are not generating automatically when a new title is added.
Its been a couple months and still having this issue. Some titles do not generate thumbnails and I have to manually do an ‘Analyze’ on them to get then to generate. Any ideas?
Assuming you have them set to be generated when added in server library settings, enabled in the library itself, and you don’t have things transcoding for playback which will take priority over thumbnail gen. Would need to see logs after adding something
Thank you, I do have everything setup as you mentioned. I have been using Plex for years and this only started happening about 1 year ago maybe a little less. Can you let me know how to do the logs and is it possible to send them to you in a private message?
In the troubleshooting section of your server settings there is a download logs button which will make a zip file of all of them. You can message them to me by clicking on my username/avatar and the message button.
Hi @BigWheel - is there any update on this? There are quite a few open threads on this issue. And my issue is occurring on a linux installation as well so it is not specific to Windows. I also have some logs captured from this issue. I even have logs generated from when it is not working and then logs generated from when it does work (post-restart and post-plex-dance with the files.)
