I am new to plex. I installed via linuxserver.io docker platform.
I have created an album, even though I have not inserted anything, I see lots of pictures are attached to it. I see under playlist section of photos. I would like to delete it.
Can I safely delete it. I do not want to lose pictures? Delete is enabled in Plex settings?
Deleting photo albums or playlists will never delete the files on your drive, and it will not remove the items that were in the album/playlist from their ‘home’ Plex libraries. It will only delete the album/playlist.
If you have enabled the ‘Allow Media Deletion’ option, there will be a ‘Delete’ option on the overflow menu of individual items. If you select the ‘Delete’ command, you will always be prompted to confirm the deletion:
Just for the sake of other folks seeing this. There are actually two types of photo albums.
ones which are basically sub folders in your photo library
deleting this type will delete the folder and everything in it from your computer. You will get the warning about removing from Filesystem. ( this option will only be available if you have “allow media deletion” enabled as mentioned above)
Yes, definitely would be helpful… Deleting playlist is supposed to not delete the content of the playlist by convention. But one can never know, even though I have backups, I do not know what attached to this album, it would be difficult to track and time wasting to recover so many images back.
Another things is that, I created album losts of unrelated images just associated with that. I did not add them.
how did you create the album? If you selected this the arrow is pointing at then you are adding everything you see below to the album. If you were not filtered by anything then it added everything in the library.
There is a task/report about that a dev made so I think that will change from what I can tell to how you are describing. But I do not have an ETA for it.
