Help a newbie navigate this forum. I don’t use these much. I noticed one of my family’s devices on my Plex for Windows Dashboard streaming music, which I interpreted to mean he was using data on his phone to do so. When asked, he stated he was listening to music he had downloaded on his iOS device, which should not have been streaming from the server. Please help me understand how to interpret that or know if data was being used on his phone. He has a limited data plan.
The Dashboard only shows that media is being played. If the media is downloaded, the only traffic should be the information about the progress (videos) or completed items (music/videos).
You can configure Plex not to use mobile data for media streaming (in order to rule out some accidental use of your mobile data)
