Does Plex Media Server ever forget what episodes you've watched these days?

I’ve been using Plex for a long time now; and it’s undergone a lot of great changes. One problem I used to have many years ago is that if you deleted episodes of a show (or maybe it was if you deleted all episodes of a show) it would forget what you’d last watched and it would break On Deck such that when the next episode appeared; it would not automatically pop up on On Deck again. I think it would “forget” as soon as one of the various maintenance tasks were run (Empty Trash/Clean Bundles - can’t remember which) after the deletion.

As I tend to use Plex more like a DVR, I got into the habit of deleting all episodes except the last one I’d watched to keep “On Deck” working when the next episode came in. This is a bit of a pain to do.

Can someone confirm whether this type of workaround is still necessary? Or does the modern PMS remember everything you’ve watched (even for deleted episodes/shows); as well as the last episode you watched? Anecdotally it seems to; but I’m not really sure.
