I wish you hadn’t waited so long to come and ask for help. There are a bunch of Ninjas, like myself, plus some employees, who are always around.

You state you get a 404 error for a M3U8?

Would you please collect your log files (Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs) and attach that zip file here with your next post?

thank you for reaching out ChuckPa …currently performing a PMS re-install to see if that helps. tried before with no success but also now have latest release…if not ill post the logs asap…thank u again

you’re welcome. I am headed to bed soon (01:35 here)… about 30-45 minutes. I just finished rebuilding an OS installation on my other home machine (CUDA and Fedora ‘disagreed’ haha)

If you turn off the html5 player, then the Web App will use the Flash Player. The Flash Player does not support playing back transcoded videos. Having the direct play option enabled does not force direct play. If the video is not supported it still needs to be transcoded which won’t work in Flash Player.

If you see this in other Plex apps, there is something else also going on. Logs from the clients right after seeing the error would also be helpful.

My apologies for the time lapse…but minor pc issues and lots of working overtime hours have held up my progress.

so, I re-installed PMS and still same issues persisting across android, Roku and web player with default setting active…also attached…
music- check
channels (CW)- check
photos- check
movies-no bueno
tv shows- no bueno

Did you move your Appdata folder? Your log shows it as C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\. You are probably running into permission issues having your PMS folder there. If you didn’t move that folder, then something went wrong during the installation. Follow the instructions here to move the folder to another location.

i didnt move it intentionally thats for sure lol…but ive been wrestling w this OS drive for a few weeks and pretty sure its failing…im gonna replace and do a clean OS install and see if it fixes the issue, Ive been procrastinating on doin it anyways.

…thanks for the help…btw i cant even locate the local app PMS folder on my C drive to move it…yep new drive, new OS, new PMS coming up!! lol fingers crossed

The default location is C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server, but you can use any folder you want. Just don’t put it under the Windows folder.

my apologies for not replying sooner (darn holidays)…so i upgraded my OS drive to ssd and re-installed windows, plex, ect… and it appears to have solved my dilemma. My best guess is that my old OS drive was beginning to fail and not read/writing correctly. thank you everyone for the help and support it was a tremendous help and greatly appreciated.

have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Yeah, whenever Plex acts up, just reinstall - it seems to fix most problems. Saying that, the last 6 months or so, Plex seems to have been pretty good (at least for me).
