Does Plex plan on doing a streaming service similar to Slingtv?

Just like Slingtv you already have the subscribers and on every known software platform. I would pay extra for a service similar to Slingtv, DirectTV now Etc.

I am not sure what you mean, you can accomplish the same experience with more features using plex already.

DirectTV and Sling pay for content and resell it to subscribers that is a different model Plex just provides you the ability to take content you “own” and watch it on supported platforms and with DVR/Live TV being introduced you can achieve the same thing those guys do just in a different way.

God I hope not!!! That is one pie I can see no upside to having Plex put their fingers in. That would also mean that Plex would become a provider/distributor of content and that would be a potential disaster with the only upside being that Plex would completely abandon its direction and become the crassly commercial company it has been moving toward. While that is not a totally bad thing it would mean that another piece of useful software would become harder for me to justify using.

Plex absolutely needs to stay out of the content hosting side of the business.

Which means: ‘Coming Soon’.

When Plex released these disastrous apps, I speculated Plex’s future would be VERY different - horrific, but different.

Never underestimate the ability of those in charge of something you rely on to mess it up in ways you can’t believe making it absolutely useless.

I have what used to be a rock-solid Roku 3 sitting here waiting for a FW upgrade that may, or may not ‘unbrick’ it.
Who could have seen that coming? Oh, that would be those unfortunate Roku XS users that got their units bricked via FW. Right.
