Doesn't refresh music meta data

I running plex media server on ubuntu with TerraMaster NAS device.
I manage my mp3 files with plex, but ID3 tag updates not apply plex meta info.

Register library with “Use embedded tags” options.
I found some album name or artist name shows as broken encoding, (CJK characters)
and some files are “Unknown Artist” - “Unknown Album” grouped.

First, I removed ID3v1 tags from files (because ID3v1 has no encoding information),
and update ID3v2.3 with UTF-16 encoding using mp3tag application (maybe you know that app…).

But plex shows up broken encoding after library scan.

and files in grouped “Unknown artist” or “Unknown album”,
they has correct ID3 tag informations.

Updated tags, scan, not affected…

How can I update internal meta info in plex?

(I know that recreate library after remove, but it may broke my playlists…)

When you change any media in-situ (once PMS has scanned it), it won’t see the changed if the date/time stamps are fully preserved and you don’t enable automatic update (iNotify).

The simplest solution is to do the following (The Plex Dance)

  1. Move media away from where monitored
  2. Scan files
  3. Empty Trash
  4. Clean Bundles
  5. Move media back into position
  6. Scan files.

No. PMS must be forced to purge the metadata (where the file’s checksum is stored) so PMS will know to scan and match it again.
